Kakinada, Feb 7^th: The elections conducted for the East and West Godavari teachers constituency MLC seat was concluded on Friday. The polling took place in a peaceful manner and a total of 87.48% of votes were polled in both East and West Godavari Districts. The polling started in the morning at 8am and continued till 4pm. In many of the polling stations large serpentine queues were seen. In the initial hours of the day only a little percentage of the votes were polled. But the polling picked up as the day advanced. Voters turned up in large numbers in the last two hours between 2pm to 4 pm.

The election authorities made elaborate arrangements for the polls by giving strict instructions to the polling officers. The election observer for both the districts, Mr. Jayesh Ranjan has visited some of the polling booths and expressed his satisfaction. He instructed the polling officers to make sure that no voter carry mobile phones. Returning officer of the election and East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwivedi said that the election took place in a peaceful manner and no major incident was reported in both the districts. The authorities have shifted the ballet boxes to JNTU College. Counting will take place on February 9^th and the results will be announced on the same day.
