The City MLA Mr. Dwarampudi Chandra Shekar Reddy here on Tuesday, supported the indefinite strike by the District Textile Merchants Association against the state government’s decision to impose VAT on clothes. According to this, he had visited their protest camp here in Kakinada Mainroad and paid his attention to the strike. Speaking on this, he stated that the VAT is not imposing in any other state except AP. The textile merchants association has been staging indefinite strike since 9th of March, protesting against the government apathy towards the textile trade. So that the cloth shops remained closed in the wake of strike by the merchants in the district, he remembered. He said that the workers, merchants and common public are suffering due to this strike. There is a huge loss to the government for this strike. Government should notice all these and should immediately take back the decision of VAT tax impose on clothes, he stressed.
