Kakinada, Nov 24th: Minister for social welfare, Mr. Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose visited the Scheduled Caste (SC) welfare hostel at Tallarevu on Tuesday morning, where some boarders were admitted at a primary health center on Monday night for falling sick after eating at the hostel. The minister inquired about the matter with hostel authorities including the SC welfare department joint director, Mr. B. Nageswara Rao, and directed him to take action against those responsible.
Sources said that the inmates of the hostel fell sick and were admitted at the primary health center (PHC) of Tallarevu after eating a non-vegetarian curry cooked on Sunday, on Monday evening. Speaking to media, SC welfare joint director Mr. Nageswara Rao said that they had suspended the cook Ms. Y. Purushottam and on the minister's directions, were conducting an inquiry by the social welfare officer into the role of the warden. Eight inmates who were admitted at the primary health center were discharged and their condition was normal, he added.
