Kakinada, Feb 20th: The Process of setting up of mini superbazars in the East Godavari district is likely to begin on pilot basis with each one at 58 mandals, seven municipalities and two municipal corporations in the district. Said to be the first of its kind the process has already started with the identification of beneficiaries among the PDS dealers. The process was initiated to provide reasonable income to PDS dealers and to avoid any mediators in the sale of the goods. Along with the sim cards and recharge coupons the bazars will be permitted to sell fancy items, fertilizers, APCO fabrics, soft drinks, and all other kirana and general items.
Recently, Joint Collector, Mr. Kona Sasidhar conducted a review meeting with the dealers of various companies and the bank representatives of the lead banks to provide assistance to the PDS dealers in setting up these malls. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sasidhar said that the process will be extended to other mandals in rural and urban areas after finding the loop holes in the present situation. The East Godavari Andhra Bank district manager said that it may require 2 to 3 lakhs for setting up of each bazar. He revealed that if everything goes planned the activity would start in March.
