Kakinada, July 20th: As part of decision taken by the government to supply pure and hygienic drinking water to the people at low cost, the same will be taken up in East Godavari in all 58 mandals. It is likely to be implemented from the Independence Day in the district. The price of the mineral water bottles will be at a nominal price of Rs 2 per 20 liters and the program has been entrusted to the rural waster supply department (RWS).
The RWS will take up the installation of one plant in each mandal in the first phase and will utilize pump houses in various villages under its control. It will supply 5 liters per head to a family. The cost of the plant is estimated between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh depending on the capacity and local needs, in addition to the cost of the building. East Godavari RWS, superintending engineer, Mr. R.M.S Dayal said that the mineral water supply will cover all rural mandals in the district.
