Tirupati, Feb 4th: The Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) of Andhra Pradesh State Chapter (2010) will be organizing its 13th Annual Conference in the temple town from February 6. The conference will be inaugurated by SVIMS Director Dr B Vengamma, IAMM Secretary, Dr B Bailasanath Reddy said in a press conference on Feb 3. The conference is jointly organized by Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) and Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC) and more than 200 delegates across Andhra Pradesh and reputed Microbiologists from the state will participate in the conference.
AIIMS (New Delhi) Clinical Microbiology Professor Dr Sarman Singh and Dr T V Rao from Medical College of Kolar will deliver guest lectures on the occasion. During the conference, Regional medical Research and WHO Reference Centre for 'LEPTOSPIROSIS' will conduct a seminar and work-shop on Leptospirosis, a rat born jaundice and emerging public health problem.
Meanwhile, a symposium and awareness program on the problem of Drug Resistant 'TUBERCULOSIS' will be conduct by Microbiology group leader, Lepra India, Blue Peter Research Centre from Hyderabad Dr S Aparna, Tuberculosis Research Centre (Chennai), Scientists Dr Selvakumar and Dr Vanaja Kumar will deliver the lecture on the second day of the conference, he said. The main theme for the meeting is Progress from Pasteur to PCR- Germs to Genes. The deliberations during the scientific meet will be useful to bring out possible solutions for current problems of Viral Diseases like Swine Flu, HIV and AIDS including preventive methods, he added.
