Measures to uplift rural areas

Rajahmundry, June 7th: The government has initiated several measures to uplift the rural areas on par with urban areas in the state. As a part of this program, rural and remote areas will have drains and roads in the next five years. In the first phase of the program, villages under Indiramma scheme will be taken up for the development. Minister for panchayat raj, Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana who was here on the day enroute his visit to West Godavari said that special efforts were being made to strength the panchayat raj set up in the state.

 

The minister made it clear that special efforts were being made to get more powers to local bodies. He revealed that the amount received through sand auction will be utilized for development works. A decision on this matter will be taken after a comprehensive study of the issue, he said. He also said that the vacant post of village secretaries will be filled soon. He said necessary action will be taken in amalgamating various panchayats in the limits of municipalities and municipal corporation areas.

 

East Godavari district Zilla Parishat Chairman, Mr. Ch. Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna, MLAs Mr. Routu Suryaprakasa Rao and Mr. Dwarampudi Chandrashekar Reddy accompanied the minister.
