Hyderabad, June 7th: The state government is taking all measures to rationalize the fee structure of various courses in private junior, degree and PG colleges. It asked the commissionerate of collegiate education to devise a common fee structure for all the courses and implement it from the ensuing academic year. Currently different colleges follow different fee structures for the same course.
The irregularities in fee structure have become a major problem for the state government while reimbursing it. With majority of student’s availing the fee reimbursement scheme, the need for common fee structure became important. According to Prof K.C Reddy, chairman of AP State Council of Higher education, the maximum and minimum fee limits will be given to the colleges on a particular course and leave it to colleges to decided on it within these limits.
The government was forced to devise the common fee structure with raising complaints received against colleges collecting very high fee for the same course. For instance while one college charges Rs 10,000 for M.Sc course, other colleges has fixed Rs 80,000 for the same. The huge variation is posing problems for government while reimbursing the fee for reserved quota students.
