Measures to ensure smooth polls

Kakinada, Mar 4th: For both the parliament and assembly elections that are scheduled to be conducted on 16th and 23rd of April in the district, the authorities are taking all measures to ensure smooth pools. In this concern a review meeting was organized by East Godavari district collector and returning officer Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi at zilla parishat meeting hall on Wednesday. Officers from both revenue and police department attended the meeting.

 

Addressing the officials, collector directed them to take all measures for the effective implementation of the election code. He also asked them to strive for the smooth conduct of polls in the district. He said that CD’s containing the information about the election code were sent to the concerned departments and advised the officers to follow according to the guidelines mentioned in the CD’s. He warned to take severe action on the concerned officers if any of them tries to violate the election code.

 

He directed the political parties to take necessary clearance from the concerned returning officer for the telecast of poll advertisements and others in the local television channels. He also directed them to take clearance for the holding that will placed in the public areas for advertisement and for the vehicles that will be used for rallies and road shows. He disclosed that for Kakinada parliamentary constituency the clearance can be obtained from him and for Rajahmundry the same can be obtained from joint collector Kona Sasidhar. For Assembly constituency the clearance can be obtained from the concerned RDO’s.
