Rajahmundry, Sep 9th: In wake of the increasing road accidents the traffic police are taking several steps to put a check on the same. Accidents involving college students following rash driving, triple driving and driving while talking over mobile phones are increasing day by day. To keep check on these accidents the traffic police intends to book cases against the students for flouting the norms and their parents for allowing their wards below 18 years to ride the bike.
Police are sending letters to the colleges and also to the offices of regional inspection officer, Board of Intermediate Education and regional joint director of higher education laying stress on the importance of inculcation of traffic rules and road safety norms among the students by conducting awareness programs. The police also urged the parents not to allow their children to ride bikes without having the valid license and cautioned them that in case if any mishap occurs, cases would be booked against the motorist and also the parents.
The traffic police are planning to impose Rs 500 fine on the parent as the students are increasingly becoming uncontrollable. The traffic sub-inspector, Mr. G.V.V Satyanarayana, advised the parents to ensure that their wards possessed license and did not violate the traffic regulations and comply with road safety norms while driving.
