Measures for drinking water supply

Kakinada, April 30th: East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi suggested the officials with effective measures to be taken to meet the drinking water needs during this summer in view of the closure of canals from May 1. Addressing the panchayat raj, RWS engineers and municipal commissioners meeting organized at district collectorate on Thursday, he said that administration is planning to supply water through tankers to places where there are no pipelines.

 

As a measure to overcome the scarcity of drinking water, collector ordered the officials to fill the available summer storage tanks and asked to utilize the funds for repair works if any. He felt that the stored water will be sufficient for the period as canals will be closed for only one month instead of the usual practice of 45 days. He announced the setting of control rooms in the collectorate with toll free number 1077 and mobile number 98499-03920. Any one who was facing scarcity in water supply can call to this numbers and inform the same.

 

Collector directed RWS and municipal suthorities to set up control rooms in their respective areas and asked to send the complaints to these centers daily to collectorate. RWS superintending engineer, Mr. R.M Dayal, G.S.N Murthy and others attended the meet.
