Kakinada, April 27th: Deputy Commander of Maoist group of Galikonda Area, Machavarapu Srinu alias Gowtham (25) surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, Ms Charu Sinha on Monday. Srinu is a non tribal belonging to Gummileru village in Mandapeta mandal of East Godavari district. He joined the Maoist movement in 2004.
According to Ms Sinha, Srinu was involved in 15 offences in the last 5 years. Some of these include the attack on Sileru police station, blasting of Sileru power plant guest house, setting fire to few RTC buses, attack on police party at Puttakota, attack on police party at Kumkumpudi village of Gudem Kothaveedhi mandal of Vishakapatnam district and other incidents.
Speaking to the media, Srinu revealed that he took the decision of surrendering before police due to his ill health. He also revealed to join Janajeevana Sravanthi and do social service to the society. The police administration has provided Srinu with a cash assistance of Rs 5,000 and also will be provided with rehabilitation of his choice.
