Many MCA seats remained vacant

Hyderabad, Aug 16th: Most of the MCA seats remained vacant in the Icet web-based counseling due to the slowdown in the IT sector. As many as 13,200 seats remained vacant in the counseling. However there was increase in demand for MBA seats as only 187 seats remained vacant in the first phase of counseling. Of the total 29,739 MCA seats on the state, only 16,529 seats were filled up while 29,621 MBA seats were filled up out of a total of 29,808 seats.

About 1, 13,289 students out of the total 1, 88,837 skipped the Icet counseling for admissions into MBA and MCA courses in the state. Some students alleged that they were allotted seats in colleges which they had not opted for. Students, with lower ranks in Icet, who exercised few options lost their seats altogether. All these students will be included in the second phase of counseling scheduled in the second week of September. New colleges will also be included in the second phase. The students can get the details about the seat allotment on the website, http://apicet.nic.in.
