Kakinada, Nov 8th: The Bharata Yagna Peetham Committee has made elaborate arrangements for performing 'Mahakumbabhishekam,' the annual fete to Lord Adikumbheswera at the temple near the seashore on November 16 on the auspicious Karteeka Amavasya day. More than one lakh devotees from both East and West Godavari districts are expected to throng the temple to offer prayers to Lord Adikumbheswera.

Committee President Ratnala Srinivasa Rao and Vice President Badireddi Krishna told mediapersons here on Sunday that performing of Mahakumbabhishekam to 1.8 crore Siva Lingams at the auspicious time of 0900 hrs on November 16 was the highlight of the day-long festival. A group of 501 women would perform abhisheka to the Mercury Lingam. Presenting holy threads and kumkum to 1001 women and Rudrakshas to 1001 men would mark the culmination of the festival. To facilitate devotees to reach the temple, free bus facility has been arranged from various places in the city, they added.
