Kakinada, Jan 28th: Demanding to solve their problems, village workers has organized maha dharna at East Godavari district collectorate on Wednesday. The villagers alleged that the government is not responding to them even after their strike since one month. The dharna started on Wednesday at 10 am and will continue for 48 hours. Workers all over the district has turned out in huge numbers and participated in dharna. They raised slogans against the government for its negligence towards them.
Speaking on the occasion the Andhra Pradesh village workers leaders alleged that they were organizing the dharna from past 37 days and the government is not responding to their demands. The demands of the workers include the rise of salaries to 400Rs per month, to recognize the workers as 4th grade employees, and to increase the DA to 100Rs. The leaders revealed that they will not give up the strike till they get positive response from the government and warned to intensify the dharna if the government neglects them.
TDP former ministers Metla Satyanarayana Rao, Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, CPM district leaders D. Subbarao, A.P.N.G.O district president, J.A.C chairman A. Rama Naidu had visited the collectorate and promised the village workers to lend their co-operation. Village workers including their leaders T.S Prakash, S. Chinna Paparao, S. Venkata Ramana and many more took part in dharna.
