Low pressure area in Bay of Bengal

Visakhaptnam, Aug 26th: Low pressure area was formed over North West Bay of Bengal, adjacent to south coastal Orissa and across north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) here said the system is likely to intensify into a depression due to its partial presence over the sea and the land. Under its influence rain or thunder showers were likely to occur at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

Heavy to very heavy rainfalls at few places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts were likely to occur during the period. The cloudy sky unburdened itself bringing in some relief from the muggy weather condiction that prevailed during the greater part of the Month. Witn the effect of the rains in catchment areas, the rivers Vamasadhara and Nagavali were likely to be in spate. Paleru Bridge, Prakasam Barage, Rentachintala, Paravathipuram of Vizianagaram district and Ranasthalam of Srikaklam district recorded 3 cm rainfall each, the CWC added.
