Jagannaickpur, Jan 4th: Lorry Union Association has called on for strike on Sunday demanding the government to solve the long term problems of the union. The strike came into effect from Sunday midnight by the call given by “All India Motor Transport Congress”. All over the district 22 lorry unions were participating in strike. The union members were making arrangements for the 100% success of the strike.


A meeting was organized by lorry owners association on Sunday at Kakinada. Speaking on the occasion, association president, Neralla Satyanarayana demanded the government to decrease the diesel price by 10Rs. He also demanded to decrease the national permit fees to 1500Rs from the present 5,000Rs and the asked for the complete waver of service tax.


The union has also demanded for the complete abolish of the GO’s 332, 334. They alleged that the harassment of the police on lorry workers and owners were increasing day by day. With the strike organized by the lorry unions nearly 5 crore of exports and imports will be effected per day in the district. The prices of vegetables and other food products were likely to increase.
