Rajahmundry, July 17th: The Nabard is planning to extend farm loans to tenant farmers to take up cultivation. Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, on the sidelines of a national seminar on finance to agriculture sector by the institutional agencies held under the aegis of department of commerce and management studies at government arts college, the Nabard chief general manager, Mr. K.V Raghavulu, said if the tenant farmers could form into small groups comprising 10 to 15, they could seek farm loan from the bank bases on their land and produce.
He felt the need for both individual and collective responsibility for seeking loan from the banks by the tenant farmers and asked them to be prompt in clearing their loans. The Nabard CGM said they were providing Rs 10,000 each for a farmers club in the state and added that this help was meant to provide training to the farmers on latest form techniques. The massive farm loan waiver worth Rs 63,000 crore offered by the Center has revived the agriculture in the country, he said and added that the government has decided to extend farm loans would Rs 55,000 crore to the farmers to raise crops during Kharif.
