Kakinada, Nov 27th: The East Godavari District Libraries Association president, Mr. Bairraju Prasadaraju, said that nearly Rs 2.43 crore was needed for the development of all libraries in the district in the financial year of 2009-2010. He appealed to the government to take necessary action to that effect. Presiding over the general body meeting on the budget 2009-2010 at the district public library here on Friday, Mr Raju said all libraries in the district were functioning successfully in terms of providing information through all kinds of books.
However to develop those in the future, the association proposed a Rs 2.43 crore budget. Apart from providing more books and facilitating internet and furniture to readers this year, the association would likely to give priority to establish more libraries, particularly in rural areas. With the sanctioned allocation of Rs 30 lakh till today, they were investing on building libraries at Amalpuram, Angara, Anuru and Ravikampadu in the district, he added.
