Kakinada, Feb 28th: Congress corporator Pasupuleti Venkata Lakshmi was elected as the new Deputy Mayor for Kakinada Municipal Corporation. As the Congress has majority in the KMC almost all the corporators supported her candidature for the post at the special elections held at the KMC’s office here on Sunday under the supervision of joint collector and the elections officer, Mr. Kona Sasidhar. The post fell vacant with the resignation of the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Arigela Srinivasa Rao and the election commission ordered for the special election in which Ms. Lakshmi was elected unanimously.
Ms Lakshmi contested in the elections representing the Ward No: 33. As there were no nominations filled for the post, JC declared her as the deputy mayor and the election was over within an hour. MLC KVV Satyanarayana Raju, City MLA Dwarampudi Chandra Shekar Reddy, Mayor Kavikondala Saroja congratulated Lakshmi over the victory. Speaking on the occasion, DM said that her first priority was to make Kakinada a neat and clean city.
