Laila changed the Climate

This sea-side spirit has witnessed a cyclone earlier but the latest twister in the Bay of Bengal called ‘Laila' created a deep sense of fear. Due to strong waves kept beating at the coast and  heavy wind threatened to blow them away. News that Laila would cross the coast between Kavali and Kakinada heightened their fears as the sea was already highly disordered. Bhairavapalem village of I.Polavaram mandal which has 1,550 households, most of them belonging to the fishermen community. The only link Bhairavapalem has with the outside world is a small bridge that connects it to Savitri Nagar that falls in Yanam which is one of the three administrative regions of Puducherry. Weather at this village is usually extremely hot but Laila has changed the climate into a cool one in the last 24 hours. A few people were seen outside their houses as strong winds swept through the area, which is located behind the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)'s off-shore terminal at Gadimoga in Tallarevu mandal. Nevertheless, children played in the rain and some adults were also stimulated with the cool weather. Heat wave conditions prevailed till here two days ago. I.Polavaram special officer K.Satyanarayana and MRO N Ramesh were monitoring the situation on Thursday as this correspondent visited the Bhairavapalem village even as rain came down continuously.
