Kakinada, Oct 26th: A special review meeting on the national level under-19 basketball tournament, 2010 will be held at Ramachandrapuram in the district in November. The district administration and the Ramachandrapuram Basketball Association will chalk out a final plan to make the event, which is scheduled to be held on January 10 to 14 grand success. The School Federation of India (SGFI) which is conceived to promote sports and games in schools and colleges under the supervision of the Directorate of School Education is organizing the event at SKPGN junior college at Ramachandrapuram.
The primary motto of SGFI is to conduct competitive sports and games in government aided zilla parishad and municipal schools. In a recent meeting held at district collectorate the collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi announced that an expenditure of Rs 12 lakh was preliminary estimated to host the event. They have sent proposals to state government to extend support in terms of at least Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakh. As many as 700 sports players and 150 coaches are likely to participate.
