The Union Minister of Human Resources Development Mr. M.M.Pallam Raju has flagged off the Kakinada-Mumbai bi-weekly express train (17221) here on Monday from Kakinada port railway station. According to the sources, this train was sanctioned with the green signal given by the Railway Board and approval in Parliament during the 2013 rail budget. This is a bi-weekly train with 17 AC, Non-AC & general compartments. It will start from Kakinada Port station at morning 9.45 am on every Wednesday & Friday. The journey will be around 26 hours. En route it covers Rajahmundry, Nidadavole, Eluru, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nadikudi, Bibinagar and reach Hyderabad and from there to Mumbai via Pune. On its return journey, the train starts from Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at midnight 12.25 pm on every Sunday & Tuesday.
Speaking on this, Mr. Pallam Raju expressed happiness over commencement of new train service to the trade capital from the city. He observed that the commuter traffic had increased tremendously from the city to places like Pune and Mumbai and the new train would ease their transportation. District Collector Mrs. Neetu Kumari Prasad, MLA's, MP's and Railway authorities were participated in this inauguration program.
