Hyderabad, June 3rd: Senior Congress party MLA from Chitoor district, Mr. N, Kiran Kumar Reddy will be the speaker of the 13 th assembly. Six nominations were filed on behalf of Mr. Reddy, when the deadline ended at 5pm on Wednesday. He will be formerly declared elected unopposed as Speaker when the house assembles at 10.30am on Thursday.
Protem Speaker, Mr. Diwakar Reddy after declaring Mr. Reddy as speaker will quit from the speaker duties. Mr. Reddy will be second person to hold the post from Chitoor District. Previously Aragala Eswara Reddy held the speaker post from the same district. Congress has also decided to nominate Mr. Nadendla Manohar for deputy speaker.
The State Legislature Secretary, Mr. Sadaram said that six sets of nominations were filed on behalf of Mr. Reddy. The papers were filed on behalf of the chief minister, Dr. Y.S Raja Shekar Reddy, the agriculture minister, Mr. N. Raghuveera Reddy, The Praja Rajyam chief, Mr. K. Chiranjeevi, the MIM leader, Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi, besides two independents, Mr. Rajeshwar Reddy and Mr. Srisailam Goud.
Telugu Desam opted against fielding Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, a seven time MLA, at the last minute because it could not enthuse its mahakutami partners to support it.
