Kin of the deceased alleged for death

Kakinada, Feb 20th: A prisoner who was under remand in Rajahmundry central jail died on Thursday night while under going treatment at government general hospital, Kakinada. The incident became serious as the kin of the deceased alleged that the prisoner has died only due to the harassment of the police when the arrested was in their custody and not because of ill health. Relatives gathered at hospital and demanded the government to take action on the police and the staff of the central jail.

 

According to the sources provided by the police, Adapa Narendra Kumar (25) is a resident of Eluru rural. He was arrested by the police on February 12th on charges of cheating a woman after promising marriage. Later he was sent to Rajahmundry central jail on remand on February 14th. Due to ill health he was shifted to government general hospital, Kakinada for treatment. While undergoing treatment Narendra Kumar died on Thursday night.

 

Body of the deceased was kept in mortuary for postmortem. The hospital authorities have conducted the same on Friday under the presence of revenue authorities. Kakinada town CI, Mr. Ch. Ravikanth said the police have booked the case with the complaint given by Chakka Varalakshmi and they were no way connected to the death of Narendra. He denied the ill treatment of the police towards Narendra.
