Hyderabad, June 19th: Telangana Rashtra Samiti president, Mr. K. Chandra Shekar Rao resigned as the party president on Friday evening. He took the decision saying that he was hurt by the allegations made against him and his family by party rebels. Party loyalists are trying to get him to withdraw his letter. Mr. Rao has resigned in June 3 last year, but was persuaded by the party members to take back his resignation.
The party general secretary, Mr. Madhusudhana Chary announced about the resignation in a media conference at Telangana Bhavan on Friday evening. He further said that the party will discuss over the issue on Saturday. Mr. Chary and other loyalists like Mr. E. Rajendra, Mr. Nayani Narasimha Reddy, the ex-MLA Mr. Satyanarayana and others have drummed up support for Mr. Rao.
If KCR resignation is accepted, the party will have to find a new leader who can match the charisma and political skills of KCR, who ruled the party with iron hand since 2001. Names of senior party leaders such as Nayani Narasimha Reddy, T. Harish Rao, MLA and Vijayashanti, MP are already being mooted as possible successors of KCR.
