Rajahmundry, Aug 6th: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar on Thursday laid emphasis on revenue collections like water cess, land revenue and maintaining tour diary by mandal revenue officers. He took serious note on cess collection from water users associations by the revenue authorities. The Joint Collector, who came here from Kakinada, attended a review meeting of Rajahmundry and Rampachodavaram revenue officials and pulled up several officers who have not even finished 25 to 40 per cent of their targets.
Taking serious note of pool collection of arrears in Gokavaram mandal, he asked the tahasildar to change his style of functioning. He asked RDO Ch. Vinaya Mohan to look into the tour diary of the tahasildar. He asked the RDO to make village revenue officers (VRO) responsible for revenue collections.
He asked all the MROs to take the assistance of MROs in revenue collection. On water cess in Korukonda mandal, he expressed his ire at the tahasildar concerned who stated that the collection was only Rs.2 lakh out of Rs.32 lakh.
