Kakinada, Mar 12th: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada has been declared by the University Grants Commission as eligible to receive Central aid. This is in addition to the permission UGC has already given to JNTU-K to award degrees. JNTU-K received a communication to this effect from UGC Joint Secretary K.P. Singh. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Mr. Allam Appa Rao, Registrar V. Ravindra and their team of officers and staff conveyed their gratitude to UGC for giving recognition to the university which enables it avail of financial assistance from various Central Government departments and research institutions. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rao said the research work being done by JNTU-K and its future plans would benefit immensely from the financial aid to be extended by Central institutions. He thanked the 220 plus affiliated colleges for their cooperation in securing UGC approvals in such a short span.
