Kakinada, Feb. 12th: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on various academic projects between
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, and four major industries, was signed in presence of minister of state for defence M.M. Pallam Raju here on Friday. Participating as chief guest at a function in connection with the MoUs with Honeywell, Tejas Networks and Synchro Serve, the minister predicted that India would emerge as one of the leading countries in the world, as universities like JNTU-K were making enormous efforts to provide qualitative education to students by taking support from industries in terms of technical knowledge.
Industry heads including Mr Ashwini Kumar Datt from BEL, Dr Krishna Mikkilineni from Honeywell, Mr Sanjay Nayak from Tejas Networks, and Mr Raja Suresh Kumar from Synchro were felicitated by the minister and the JNTU-K vice-chancellor, Prof. Allam Appa Rao, on the occasion. As part of the MoUs, an optical networking center of excellence was established to create an ecosystem at the JNTU-K that helps in creating bright, well-rounded engineers who will work for designing world standard products and solutions for future needs. An electro-optics lab was set up by the BEL, which gave Rs 60 lakh as part of its corporate responsibility initiatives, in terms of 30 types of test equipments and related software packages besides providing required training to staff of the JNTU-K. Honeywell sponsored industrial process automation, simulation and optimisation laboratory, which focus on advanced process controls and automation design.
