Hyderabad, Nov 14th: Government has decided to issue voter cards in post offices. This project was going to be launched in capital city Hyderabad for the first time on 17th of this month.

State government has taken up this project to reduce the problems faced by the people for their vote registration. Many awareness programs were started regarding this and already 1200 post masters were given training under this project.

According to this the voter has to fill the voter registration form and submit it in the nearest post office after which the concerned postman will do complete enquiry regarding the communication address and whether the applicant is eligible for vote or not. Within one month of voter registration the applicant will receive the voter card at his communication address through speed post.

Government is already in the process of issuing the cards for the applicants who have applied through the ‘Draft Box ‘system which was introduced by the Government where the voter can drop their registration forms in the box. But the applicants are facing problems regarding the locations of the ‘Draft Boxes’.

A permanent solution for this problem was making the post offices as voter registration counters. In Hyderabad nearly 216 post offices were assigned with this program of voter registration. Later this program will be launched national wide.
