Kakinada, June 10th: Road Transport Authorities are planning to issue driving licence through online. As the recently introduced online registration of vehicles in both East and West Godavari districts was successfully implemented with more dealers using the system, the authorities are planning to issue driving licence online shortly. The process is already in practice in Hyderabad where a person has to book a slot with a date and time on the website with the transport authorities and meet them on day of appointment.
The person after completion of test drive is supposed to undergo a mandatory test on road signs and symbols to obtain learner’s licence, followed by a permanent driving licence. Earlier brokers used to take commission from the applicants to fulfill the formalities. But with the mandatory presence of the candidate for getting photographed and get a digital signature, transport authorities have ousted brokers. With the introduction of online issue of driving licence, it is going to be easier for those intending to get a licence.
The recently introduced system of online registration of vehicles has picked up momentum with more dealers showing interest to register themselves with the transport authorities to avail this service. A vehicle dealer has to get an identity with the transport authorities for opting for online registration of vehicles. Soon after the purchase of vehicle, the dealer pays life tax either by online or credit card and immediately the customer will get temporary registration.
