Visakhapatnam, Oct 21st: This port city will host its first ever international film festival from October 25 to 29 under the aegis of Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI) on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee celebrations all over the country. The Federation, it may be recalled was founded by the legendary Bengali film maker and Oscar winner Satyajit Ray. The Vizag Film Society (VFS) will organize the festival, in which a blend of feature films and documentaries will be screened, its Secretary N Prakasa told UNI on Oct 21.
Films from US, Iran, Egypt, France, Italy, Germany, South Africa Korea and India will be screened at the festival, he said. The Iranian film made by celebrated Director Majid'' Song of Sparrows'' will be the inaugural film at the festival. Telugu films ''Grahanam'' of Mohana Krishna and ''Bommalata'' made by R Prakash would also be among the films to be screened. The documentary films to be screened at the festival would include one on the legendary Telugu film maker, Dadasaheb Phalke award winner, late B Nagi Reddy. Artistes hailing from this city would also be honored at the festival.
