In order to mark the ‘International Coastal Cleanup Day' on Saturday, Students from various schools and colleges and volunteers from different organisations joined hands to cleanup the beach. Indian Coastguard Station, Kakinada along with Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board conducted the program in which volunteers from various organisations like Reliance, Coromandal, Kakinada Port, CAIRN Energy, ONGC, GSPC, and KSPL participated. They removed wastes like plastic bags, damaged fishing nets and cigarettes upto 5Km beach between Vakalapudi and Uppada. Station Commander of Coastguard Station, Mr. S.N.M. Pattanaik inaugurated the camp. Assistant Commandant Mr. Davinder Singh, Environmental Engineer of the APPCB Mr. Pramod Kumar Reddy and others were present.
