Injured pilgrims back to Kakinada

Kakinada, Feb 15th: A total of 92 residents of Kajuluru mandal in Kakinada region, who met with a major accident in Jharkhand on February 12 when they were on a pilgrimage to Kasi and Gaya, reached here on Monday. Soon after their arrival at Samalkota railway station at 2.30pm, the district administration arranged five special vehicles including ambulance to shift them to the government general hospital (GGH) here. The GGH superintendent, Dr. MBR Sharma, after examining them, said that 32 of them has sustained injuries, and 11 were suffering with serious wounds, of them three persons brain and spinal cord were completely damaged.

Later, the official team under the aegis of the revenue divisional officer, Mr. G.C Kishore Kumar sent the other people to their houses at Kajuluru. Former ministers Mr. Chikkala Ramachandra Rao from TD, Mr. Tota Trimurtulu from the PR helped the team in the rescue operation. The accident took place on NH-2 near Dhanbad on Friday midnight. The seriously injured persons were admitted to the nearby Sadar hospital. Soon after receiving the  information from the collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi arrangements were made to shift the victims to Kakinada.
