East Godavari district is observing overall development and funds were being released by the State Government to take up welfare and development activities in the district said Social Welfare Minister Mr. Pilli Subhash Chandrabose on Sunday. Participating in the hoisting of the tri-colour at the police parade grounds to mark the Independence Day, he said that involvement of each citizen in the ongoing development activities is essential. Mr. Subhash Chandrabose said under ‘Jalayajnam' scheme, Indira Sagar left canal works, Musurumilli project and reconstruction of Annampalli aqueduct were under progress. Under the agriculture insurance scheme, a sum of Rs. 2.6 Cr was paid to 5,989 farmers so far, he added. Department of fire services, housing, DRDA, agriculture and horticulture displayed pictures and students of local schools mesmerized the audience with their performances. The Minister presented certificates of merit to officials of various departments. Zilla Parishad Chairman Mr. Ch. Venugopala Krishna, Joint Collector Mr. K. Sasidhar, Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Mr. Yogitha Rana and other officials were present.
