Kakinada, Aug 15th: The 63rd Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor at the police parade grounds here on Saturday with Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhaschandra Bose as the chief guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the guard of honor. The ceremonial parade was commanded by Rajahmundry DSP Janaki.
Mr. Bose had a brief interaction with freedom fighters Chodipalli Hanumanta Rao, Godavalli Sarveswara Rao, Ramayanam Chakramma, S. Venkateswarulu and Subbalakshmi, who were among the special guests, and acknowledged their contribution to the Independence movement. He also recalled the active role played by Bulusu Samba Murthy, Madduri Annapoornaiah, Vadrevu Jaggaraju, Krovvidi Lingaraju and others in India’s liberation from the clutches of the British.
Mr. Bose then apprised the participants about the development and welfare under implementation and exuded confidence that the district would be among the best in different parameters. He emphasized on irrigation projects, agriculture and farmers’ welfare, employment generation, housing, civil supplies, education, health care, power and rural water supply.
