Indian Coast Guard is getting ready improve the surveillance along with seacoast. As a part of this, Union Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Pallam Raju will be inaugurating Indian Coast Guard Station (ICGS) Charles-151 Patrolling Vessel here on Saturday. As of now, Kakinada ICGS already have Patrolling Vessels like Ganga Devi, Vajra and Vigraha. However, the Vessel Ganga Devi was shifted to Ship yard due to repairs and C-151 have been replaced in place of Ganga Devi. Central Government has focused to develop Kakinada as it is second largest in maintaining Patrolling vessels after Vishakapatnam. In the year 2006, Late Chief Minister Mr. YS Raja Sekhar Reddy had inaugurated the ICGS. Plans were made for the protection of Rigs provided from Various Oil refineries from Krishna-Godavari Basin and other assets. The ICGS building will also be started in short time. For this, Government has provided Rs.15.5 Acres land to built 75 houses as Staff quarters. Officers kept a proposal that this quarter must be constructed under Rajiv Swagruha scheme.
