Hyderabad, May 22nd: The Chief Minister, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, has preferred to retain senior bureaucrat, Dr. I.V. Subba Rao, in the post of Chief Electoral Officer. There were speculations about the stand a new government would take with respect to the CEO in the wake of its decision to replace the director-general of police, Mr S.S.P. Yadav, with Mr. A.K. Mohanty. The chief Minister flooded with complaints from Congress leaders who faced elections that the actions of Mr. Mohanty and Dr. Rao had troubled them.

The ruling party’s objected against the CEO is that he acted quickly on complaints against Rajiv Arogyasri but didn’t act against the TDP cash transfer scheme. The transfer involves a process of sending names of another three officials and gets the EC’s approval. The CEO post is itself a insignificant one when the elections are over, a close confidante of the Chief Minister pointed out. The Chief Minister would take up the reshuffle of principal secretaries, secretaries and district collectors after the new ministry is formed.
