Kakinada, Feb 10th: As part of the efforts to protect ground water resources in East Godavari, an Hydrology Information System (HIS) was introduced in the district. The HIS comprises infrastructure and human resources to collect, process and store the data of surface and ground water resources in the district. After collecting the data, which also includes the quality and quantity of the water, will be disseminated to the members of Hydrological Data Users Group (HDUG), and also to the public on demand.
The infrastructure includes observation of networks, laboratories, data processing and data storage centers and communication systems. The human resources development includes expanded organisations, trained staff and all India network of HIS professional. District additional joint collector B. Ramarao held a review of the HIS with the members of the users group here on Wednesday. The HIS comes operational under Ground water department.
