Rajahmundry, June 21st: East Godavari joint collector, Mr. Kona Sasidhar has announced that the district administration has opened a helpline to monitor and control rice prices in the district. As far as Rajahmundry Revenue Division is concerned if irregularities in selling of rice was found, individuals can call 2440144 and make a complaint on any shop are dealer who was selling above the Government’s fixed price.
Speaking to reporters after conducting surprise checks on Sunday on different ration shops and special rice counters in different areas, the JC said that they have supplied 1,500 tonnes of branded rice in the district to sell at Rs.26 per kg for those people who could afford and buy branded rice. They got very good response and they were also selling three varieties of rice in special rice counters arranged in rythu bazaars, agriculture market yards and other places. He said Rs.20 superfine, Rs.16 fine and Rs.14 varieties are also getting good response from public, particularly Rs.20 superfine variety is having much demand in the market.
