Kakinada, Jan 1st: A 12 day handicrafts and handlooms exhibition was organized at T.T.D Kalyana Mandapam, Jagannaickpur on Thursday. The program will be held from 1st to 12th January, 2009. Kakinada mayor, Kavikondala Saroja has inaugurated the exhibition. Weavers belonging to various places have exhibited their items in the exhibition. Handicraft and hand loom items, dress materials, sarees, wall hangings and many more placed in the show attracted the viewers.
Speaking on the occasion Mayor Saroja said that, this exhibition is a sign of the Indian culture and tradition. She appreciated the handloom management for organizing such exhibition in the present days of demolishing the Indian heritage. Lapakshi handloom emporium manager G.S.Rao also spoke on the occasion. He said that the exhibition was organized to support the handloom weavers. 10% to 20% discounts were announced by the management on all the items that were placed in the exhibition
