Kakinada, Jan 1st: With warm welcome to the New Year 2009 the city has celebrated the New Year eve in a grand way. The city people gave hearty welcome to the New Year 2009 by saying goodbye to 2008. Every one was busy by greeting their near and dear ones. Huge crowds were found in the parks, cinema theaters, shopping malls etc. The hotels in the city were ready with their delicious dishes to invite the customers. Special packages were also offered to attract the customers.
The higher officials and the political leaders have celebrated the New Year eve along with their staff. District congress leaders gave their warm wishes to the cabinet minister M.M Pallam Raju at his residence. The minister has distributed sweets to all the leaders and conveyed his wishes. Collector Gopala Krishna Dwivedi and the joint collector Kona Sasidhar also received wishes from their staff.
Zilla Parishat Chairman and district congress committee president Mr. Ch Srinivasa Venugopalakrishna, celebrated the New Year eve in a different way along with his staff at local Ananda Nilayam. He cut the New Year cake along with the orphans and the inmates. Later a cultural program was presented by the inmates.
STF members visited DEO office on Thursday and conveyed their wishes to the District Educational Officer. Speaking on the occasion DEO asked the teachers to extend their efforts for the education and to place the district in the top level. He promised to extend all the possible help to the teachers.
