A.V. Krishnam Raju, the Vice-Chancellor of NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) inspired medical students to impart a human touch to patients whose care is of supreme importance to them. Technological boundaries in medical sciences were being violated every day but the medical practitioners should not give up human values. The NTRUHS was not for only for medical education but also for encouragement of quality health care services. As such it took steps for the advancement of clinical research which was crucial to provide better services to people. The doctors have to give their best to society for which they need to continuously update their professional knowledge while staying glued to the basic tenets of their noble profession, the VC observed. While speaking at the 2004 batch Graduation ceremony of Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) here, Dr. Krishnam Raju said students emerging from RMC and other institutions would come across a variety of diseases and equally flexible treatment practices. They should be fully up to date with the latest developments in their fields, be they super-specialties or basic medical science. During every interaction with patients, the young doctors have to understand human nature. Whether the doctors take up practice or research studies, the objective should be to lessen the troubles of people, particularly poorer sections. Prior to the speech, Dr. Krishnam Raju launched the e-learning facility at RMC under the NTRMEDNET association and Digital Library project which provides access to e-journals and books for students and faculty. The VC has also unveiled a bronze statue of Hippocrates funded by the students, on the college premises. RMC Medical Education Society founder – president and prominent industrialist Mullapudi Harischandra Prasad, Government General Hospital (Kakinada) superintendent MBR Sarma, RMC principal R Pratap, State Medical Council vice-chairman K.L. Sampath Kumar and others were present.
