Govt decision to raise honorarium

Vijayawada, Sep 22nd: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), OBC Department, Vice-Chairman Ilapuram Venkaiah welcomed the state government's decision to hike the honorarium to the representatives of local bodies in the state. He said a GO to this effect was released on September 17 this month. Following an appeal by the delegates of the local bodies to hike the honorarium during the late Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy's regime in 2008, the acting Chief Minister K Rosaiah had given orders for the same.

Thanking Mr Rosaiah for taking initiative to increase the honorarium, Mr Venkaiah, MLC, said according to the GO, the honorarium to Sarpanches of Major Gram Panchayats has been enhanced from Rs 1,000 to Rs1, 500, Sarpanches of Minor Gram Panchayats from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000, Mandal Presidents from Rs 1,000 to Rs 15, 00, Zilla Parishad Chairpersons from Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,500 and ZPTCs from Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,250. Sitting fee of Mandal Parishad Members and attending meetings was increased from Rs 50 to Rs 100 and sitting fee of Zilla Parishad Members from Rs 75 to Rs 150.
