Governor laid the foundation stone for old age home

Kakinda, Dec 16th: State Governor N.D Tiwari has laid the foundation stone for construction of old age home of Indian Red Cross Society at Vakalapudi near Kakinada. On Tuesday in his special visit to East Godavari, governor has participated in this program. The home is being constructed here at a cost of Rs37 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion Tiwari said that the Red Cross movement over the 135 years has spread its services over 150 countries across the world. He alleged that the demand for the old age homes was in rise as they were being neglected because of various social economic reasons. The human values were also declining day by day, he added.

Governor praised the services rendering by the Red Cross Society in establishing the home for senior citizens. He thanked the Spanish Red Cross Society for giving relief funds to the people affected in the Tsunami under East Godavari and Srikakulam districts. He complimented the services of Red Cross in organizing school for PH children, Yoga, computer classes and blood banks.

Collector, Gopala Krishna Dwivedi handed over a cheque of Rs10 lakh to the collector as a fund to the Red Cross Society, East Godavari. He said that the Society is planning to complete the building with in 6 months. Collector, Z.P Chairman Ch Venugopal Krishna, MLA Bulliabbai Reddy, Venkateswara Rao, Srinivas Rao and many more participated in this program.
