Government suspends 16 principals

Hyderabad, June 11th: With the poor performance of the students in the Intermediate exams this year, 16 principals of the particular colleges were suspended by the government on Thursday. The pass percentage in these colleges ranged between four and 15. This is the first time in the history of Intermediate education that such a stringent action was initiated against principals who failed to deliver.

 

In a junior college at Paderu in Vizag district out of 363 students who appeared for the exams, only 14 of them cleared the exam. In another college in Hukumpeta, 10 out of 158 passed the exams. These colleges registered a very little pass percentage. The government has issued showcause notices to 270 principals as less than 45 per cent of the students cleared the exam.

 

The notice received principals are asked to report at the commissionerate of intermediate education and submit an affidavit that they will perform better next year or else be suspended. The commissioner of intermediate education, Mr. Agarwal revealed that the government is spending Rs 1.5 lakh per month on each college for salaries and it is the duty of the principals and other concerned to work for the betterment.
