Hyderabad, Sep 13th: The state government has decided to bring reforms in Intermediate public exams to be held this year. The reforms include “jumbling” of centers for practical exams in line with theory exams, fixing upper limit of five years to clear all the papers, not allowing students to change subject combinations in the second year and attaching OMR barcode sheet with main answer sheet for first and second language papers. Officials said that reforms were necessitated as the government had decided to give 25 per cent weightage to inter marks in Eamcet. It will be increased to 50 per cent from Eamcet-2011.
Currently, students take practical exams in their colleges under the supervision of their lecturers. However there have been complaints that several private colleges “manage” the examiner to award full marks. To avoid this students will be allotted different exam centers. The new system will also improve laboratory facilities in all colleges, particularly in private colleges as it will become imperative for them to conduct practical classes. Students will not be allowed to change their subject combinations in the second year. Students should also clear all the papers with in five years.
