Kakinada, Feb 10th: Farmers wing state general secretary, Mr. Nallamala Venkateswara Rao alleged that the government has failed in supply of water resources for the second rabi crop due to lack of proper planning and idea about the demand and the supply. A meeting was organized at local Telugu Desam Party office on Tuesday. Speaking to the media persons he came down heavily on the state government for the lack of forethought and planning in maintaining the water resources. He also said that the farmers are facing many problems due to lack of proper supply. The government is able to supply only half of the required quantity of water.
Mr. Venkateswara Rao revealed that thought the rainfall was good in this year the government failed to supply the water for the second rabi crop. He alleged that water was sold to shrimp hatcheries and sent into the sea from the barrage. He said that in the present conditions the yield of the crop will be halved and farmers have to bear a loss of 50 per cent of their total income. He made assessments that the loss will be around 1,500 crore in both the districts. Organizing secretary of telugu rytu state unit, Mr. B. Venkateswarlu, Mr. Yesudeva Reddy, Mr. C. Rambabu, Ch. Venkata Ramayya and other participated in the meeting.
