Good results for Rajiv Udyogasri

Kakinada, Nov 28th: The progress of Rajiv Udyogasri (RUS), the state governments employment generation scheme with an objective of creating opportunities to unemployed youth, particularly in private sector has given good results in East Godavari District. According to the District Employment Exchange's progress report, nearly 94 percent of the trained candidates got jobs. The RUS was launched in the district on July 5, 2007. Later, it was formed as district-level RUS Society, for which the collector was the chief executive officer and all the district officers were members.

After conducting various job melas, training cum placement programs, campus interviews and meetings with the sources to provide placement to unemployed youth the RUS is successful in providing jobs to 16,881 youth out of the targeted 25,000 in 2007-08 and 15,064 out of 35,000 in 2008-09. But now the success rate is standing at nearly 94 percent. The target for 2009-10 upto October is to provide employment to 13,305 youth. Out of 2,827 trained, nearly 2,671 got jobs. Besides a total of 4,589 are now undergoing training. District employment officer, Ms. K. Santhi exuded confidence that they would completely reach the target by the year end.
