Visakhapatnam, Sep 12th: The Deemed Gitam University in Andhra Pradesh has got recognition from the Distance Education Council (DEC) to start Post Graduate, Under Graduate and Diploma courses through the Distance Education. The Vice-Chancellor M Gangadhara Rao said that the DEC has accorded permission to the varsity based on the recommendation of the UGC-AICTE-DEC joint committee. He also said Gitam; the first deemed university in Andhra Pradesh will open 22 Centre for Distance Learning (CDL) centers like IGNOU in the State to offer Distance Education through modern WEB Advanced Technology.
The online entrance test for courses would by objective type questions, adding the 13 programs would be offered through Distance Education. The programs were PG MBA (Gen), MBA (HRM), MCA, M Com, MA (Economics), MA (English) and M.Sc (Biotechnology) besides PG Diploma in communication skills, PG Diploma in Environment and Sustainable Management, Diploma in Computer Applications and Diploma in Communicative English. The Under-Graduate programs were BCom, BA (History), Public Administration, (Sociology), BA (Police, Public Administration, Sociology) and BA (History, Economics, Psychology). University Registrar P M Valli said the courses would start this year.
